Tuition, Fees, and Payments

Need to make a payment? Please go to www.faym.musicteachershelper.com.

Payment is due on or before the first of each month. Payments can be made online. Go to www.faym.musicteachershelper.com
All FAYM families are required to set up an account with this site.

FAYM uses an online service to make accounting and record keeping easier. This service benefits you (FAYM families) by allowing you to check your account 24/7 at your leisure. From this site, you can check your account balance, make either one-time or recurring payments, check your account history, and get other information about your account. Invoices and payment reminders are automatically generated.

Payments are made online from a credit or debit card using this secure site. All FAYM families are strongly encouraged to pay this way. In the circumstance that you can not pay by credit or debit card, you may still pay by check*, payable to FAYM. The check can be mailed or submitted in person.

*FAYM families that pay by check are still required to set up an account.

Go to www.faym.musicteachershelper.com to register for your account.

Returning students that already have an account will have their account re-activated once the registration form is processed. All accounts are deactivated in between semesters.

Registration Fee

There is a registration fee of $30 per family, per semester. The late registration fee is an additional $15 (for registrations completed between August 20 and September 3).

Upon registration (and activation of your account), a minimum payment of the registration fee ($30) PLUS at least the 1st month's tuition is due immediately. If the required payment is not received within 3 business days of your activation notice, the registration will be deleted.

Tuition

Tuition for any class is $92 per semester. Tuition may be paid in full at the beginning of each semester, or in 4 separate installments: Upon registration, September 1, October 1, and November 1 for the fall semester; Upon registration, February 1, March 1, and April 1 for the spring semester.

The chart below reflects the TOTAL number of classes enrolled by a family. For example, if you enroll three children - one child in one class, and two children in two classes each - you have a total of FIVE enrollments.
  • 1 enrollment - $23/installment ($92/semester)
  • 2 enrollments - $46/installment ($184/semester)
  • 3 enrollments - $69/installment ($276/semester)
  • 4 enrollments - $92/installment ($368/semester)
  • 5 enrollments - $115/installment ($460/semester)
  • 6 enrollments - $138/installment ($552/semester)
  • 7 enrollments - $161/installment ($644/semester)
  • 8 enrollments - $184/installment ($736/semester)
  • more than 8 enrollments - cap at $200 per installment ($800 per semester)

How To Pay
All payments should be submitted online, at www.faym.musicteachershelper.com, using a credit or debit card. There is no charge for paying online. FAYM strongly encourages families to pay through the website. In the case that a family cannot or does not want to use a credit or debit card, checks are accepted, payable to FAYM. The mailing address for payments is 7931 Lake Anna Parkway, Spotsylvania, VA 22551.

Whether families choose to pay by check or online, all families must register on the www.faym.musicteachershelper.com website for an account. You will choose your own name and password for your account. The account allows you to check your own records of payments and charges (even when you pay by check). Parents can log on to their account using their username and password and submit a one-time or recurring payment. For families who do not want to pay for the entire semester at once, payments can be made in four monthly installments: one installment upon registration, and the next payments due on September 1, October 1, and November 1 for the fall semester; upon registration, and the next payments due on February 1, March 1, and April 1 for the spring semester.

There will be no refunds given if you pay for the entire semester up front and then drop a class before the semester is over.

Upon registration (and activation of your account), a minimum payment of the registration fee ($30) PLUS at least the 1st month's tuition is due immediately. If the required payment is not received within 3 business days of your activation notice, the registration will be deleted.

If you have any tuition concerns, PLEASE do not hesitate to contact the Director to discuss tuition options.

Late Payments
All payments are due immediately upon registration, or, in the case of installments, upon registration and by the first of each month (September 1, October 1, and November 1; or February 1, March 1, and April 1). If a payment is not received within one week of the due date, a $15 late fee will be added to your account. Families with delinquent accounts will be suspended from all FAYM classes until payments are up to date.

Returned Checks
All checks returned for insufficient funds are subject to a $50 fee. When a check is returned for insufficient funds, the amount of the check plus the $50 fee must be paid by the 30th of the month or the family will not be allowed to participate in any FAYM classes until all payments are up to date.

Refund Policy
Refunds are not given for any reason once the semester starts. If you've committed to a class, then it is expected that the student will attend regularly, and be prepared for the class. No refunds will be given if a family pays for the entire semester in advance but does not finish out the entire semester.
THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN IF YOU PAY FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER UP FRONT AND THEN DROP A CLASS BEFORE THE SEMESTER IS OVER.

The ONLY exception to this policy is during the registration period. If a family signs up and pays for a class, and then has to change the class because of scheduling, or drop the class because the student did not test in to the expected level; and IF the semester has not started yet, THEN payment for the class will be refunded. Registration fees are never refunded because of the many, many hours of work and planning that the FAYM teachers put in to registering and auditioning and lesson planning for students.

Dropping a Class
If a student drops a class, the parent should notify FAYM as soon as possible. When FAYM is notified that a student has dropped a class, the student will be removed from the class roster, and the online account will not be charged for any remaining classes of the semester. Failure to notify FAYM will result in the family being charged for the class that is being dropped, even if the student does not attend any more classes. Refunds will not be given for the remainder of a month if a family drops out before the end of the month.

THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN IF YOU PAY FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER UP FRONT AND THEN DROP A CLASS BEFORE THE SEMESTER IS OVER.

If a family enrolls for a class and makes a payment, and then drops the class before day 1 of the semester, the amount paid towards tuition can be refunded. The registration fee cannot be refunded. No refunds will be given for classes dropped after the semester starts.

Books and Materials

The class description (available from the FAYM website) will list any books, instruments, equipment, or other materials required for a class. In almost all cases, students need to provide their own instruments. The student should try to have all required books by the first class of the semester. FAYM will not provide books required for a class, except where noted. It will be the responsibility of the student to obtain his/her own book in most classes.

Concert Hall Fee
Families participating in the Winter or Spring concerts (required for all band, strings, and chorus students) will contribute to the concert hall fee (usually about $12 per family).

Please use SmartMusic CLASSIC. Do NOT use the NEW version.

Students in any Band, Orchestra, or Choral class are highly encouraged to register for a SmartMusic subscription. Weekly assignments will be given that use the SmartMusic application. Students without a SmartMusic subscription can still practice and complete assignments on their own, but the SmartMusic subscription will give students an extra advantage, as well as extra tools, such as recordings, tuning help, exercises, and class assessments and grades. Go to the SMARTMUSIC page to find out more about SmartMusic.
